Thanks Laura for your input. When I get the results of my additional blood tests I will post again.
My symptoms now are fatigue, metal taste in my mouth, lack of motivation, depression, trouble staying asleep at night, constipation, low stress tolerance, exercise intolerance and just feeling worn out way too early in the day. Oh and I have an umbilical hernia that the surgeons won't fix until I lose 100 pounds! This of course messes up my work and home life and my kids don't like it either!
I am having a CT next week to see if the hernia is strangling my intestines, I know that it is causing bad gerd for sure!
I guess I'm just tired of being tired! I want so bad to feel good again.
Thanks for listening.
You will have a supressed TSH with Cytomel or T3 meds......how soon before you get the free t3 and free t4 done? These are the two tests that are critical to have done if you are on t3 and t4 medications.
Are you feeling hyper? What are your symptoms right now? Yes you are below the .30 range but most likely will if on cytomel. I would just wait until you get the free t3 and free t4 results back before worrying any further.... :)
Let me know when you get those results and post them here.
But my level is 0.047, that is less than .3, right?
Normal TSH index is .3 to 3, so by definition you are not actually low. However, most people find an index of between 1 - 2 the comfortable range.
TSH is 0.047
T4 7.5
T3 update 28
Free Thyroxine Index 2.1
In late November my TSH was 0.023 - at that time my doc changed me from 200 mcg Levothyroxine to 125 mcg and started me on 25 mcg of Cytomel. About a month or more ago it was 0.035 so it has been slowly raising since I changed dosages.
My DO is ordering an additional Free T3 & Free T4 but doesn't seem concerned that my pituitary gland may have a problem. Should I be concerned?
PS - Thanks for responding to my question!
What were your actual lab results with ranges please?
Cytomel will cause a supressed TSH with normal t3 and t4 results.
