Oh thanks so much for the urine info but I've had a full workup including a 24hr urinanalysis and 11vials of blood on top of the urologists 8 tests that all came out normal (parathyroid, calcium, magnesium, Vit D, etc., etc., etc.). I passed a 4mm stone that was stuck in the middle of my kidney for years .. I passed it 12 days post op thyroid surgery .. yooo hoooo .. boy was I glad about that one!

A good multi-mineral, not multi-vitamin, supplement may help, along with a B-complex supplement. It also helps to take supplements during meals, as the fats in the food help to carry the nutrients to where they're needed. And just so you know, if you're on levothyroxine, you should probably be on some sort of calcium supplement, as long-term use of L-thyroxine can cause osteoporosis over time.
One other thing to think about - your body may be forming the kidney stones because your system's too alkaline. Pick up a pack of pH test strips and test your urine or saliva. They're cheap and it can give you an idea of where your body is. If you test as very alkaline, then talk to your dr about seeing a nutritionist who can put you on an pH balancing diet. I know it sounds a little out there, but couldn't hurt to try.
I took a Viactive brand chewable multi vitamin with 200mgs of calcium and also 2 glasses of milk which is two more than I usually take per day LOL (not an avid milk drinker). I tried Magnesium a few mos. ago but that made me tired for some reason ??? ...... I know I cannot take too much calcium w/o Urologist being aware as he told me not to take any calcium supplements as I create calcium oxalate stones and I know I still have one left that hasn't passed yet (only 2mm but can grow rapidly)
Anybody know how much calcium is in 8oz of milk? I think I'll look it up.

Don't know what kind of calcium supplement you are on, but the only one that really works for me is Calcet. 2 tablets contain 300mg calcium and 200 IU vitamin D for absorption. It's the only thing that stops the muscle cramps for me.

kick in and work for those who have had to take it?
