thankyou goolarra for that information, I'll look it up and see what is in its ingredients, thanks again.
A quick google found this about NT:
“Nature-Throid is a hypoallergenic combination thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) hormone replacement drug made from Thyroid USP. Nature-Throid is formulated using hypoallergenic inactive ingredients and does not contain any artificial colors or flavors, corn, peanut, rice, gluten, soy, yeast, egg or fish/shellfish.”
I notice is doesn’t say what it DOES contain, just what it doesn’t.
And this about Armour:
“Calcium stearate is an inactive ingredient used as a lubricant in Armour Thyroid tablets. According to Pharmaceutical Formulation Databases and Resources, lubricants in medication tablets help keep the medication powder from sticking to the equipment used to make the tablet.
Dextrose and microcrystalline cellulose are inactive ingredients used in Armour Thyroid tablets. According to Pharmaceutical Formulation Databases and Resources, these act as fillers and compression aids to improve the overall characteristics of the tablet powder.
According to Pharmaceutical Formulation Databases and Resources, sodium starch glycolate is used to help the Armour Thyroid tablets dissolve once a patient takes the pill. Opadry white is a coloring agent that helps keep the color consistent in each batch of tablets.”
Of course, bear in mind that “purity” is only one consideration. The “sodium starch glycolate” (whatever that might be) could make the tablet much more effective for some individuals, depending on their body chemistry.
BOTH are pig thyroid.
