My endo noticed an enlargement of my thyroid during a regular check up for my diabetes. He then scheduled me for a sono which was preformed in Sept. I have never taken thyroid medication or had been diagnosed with thyroid problems before. This is all new to me. My blood work appears to be normal from what i have been told. I do have these fast growing nodules with follicular cells with hurthle changes. My voice is beginning to be affected. The size of my left lobe is 8x4.3x3.3 with a 6.2x4.1x2.8 nodule. Right lobe is 6.2x2.2x1.9 cm with a 3.3x2.5x1.9 cm nodule. The nodules are solid and heterogeneous, and slightly heterogeneous, well defined masses.
I would like you to to post the description of the nodules from the ultrasound report. Are you sure that the 6 by 4.8 by 3 is the size of a NODULE and not of the thyroid LOBE??
If the nodule of this size is cystic the intranodular bleeding is possible, otherwise considering hurtle cells present during the previous FNB , would suggest to repeat biopsy; if these celles are making 60% of the sample, surgery may be needed.
