Should I seek another professional?

My doctor won't treat my recent diagnosis of hypothyroidism. She states my levels are a 7, and should be at a 10 for treatment.  What should I do to resolve these symptoms, alopecia, fatigue, dizziness, thinning nails, difficulty recollecting thoughts?

Hi,

New guidelines were just published .. See a recent post with the updated info:

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Thyroid-Disorders/Major-Changes--AACE-Guidelines-for-Hypothyroidism-in-Adults-----------------/show/1810133#post_8339341

This is a huge change in guidelines, IMHO.

I second, get another doctor.  I'm new to all this, but I followed up with my internist a few weeks ago after being put on levo by my obgyn with a TSH of 8.45, hair loss, hormone issues, etc and she wanted me to STOP the meds.  She said my tiredness was from depression, not the fact that it's totally normal to feel worse after one's started taking the meds.  Refused to test for Hashi's.

I went to the Endo on Friday who confirmed everything I've been thinking and reading was correct, she adjusted my meds, did a sonogram of my neck, will test for Hashi's.  She actually listened to me.
