Test Indicates Graves?

Here is the Mayo Clinic Ref. Range that came with my test:

My result is: 6.72

Reference Range:
0.00-1.75
At a decision limit of 1.75 IU/L, this assay has 97%
sensitivity and 99% specificity for detection of Graves'
disease. In healthy individuals and in patients with
thyroid disease without diagnosis of Graves' disease, the
upper limit of anti-TSHR values are 1.22 IU/L and 1.58
IU/L, respectively (97.5th percentiles).

I am assuming that is what it means but then again I feel like I've lost my mind - I had Hyperthyroid in 2008 - took PTU and went into remission in 2009.  It's back and nastier than ever.  I had a million (okay 14) blood tests done the other day and this is one test that was 100% clear to me.  I see my Dr. on Tuesday....In the meantime, Does this test clearly tell me I have Graves disease?

Thanks for your help!

It does clearly indicate that you have Graves', and you're correct that it's thyrotropin rereceptor antibodies (TRab).  Some people with Graves' test negative for antibodies, but if they're elevated (like yours), it's a pretty sure thing.

I hope you have a good thyroid doctor to work with.  Good luck.

Finding a doctor you like, who is competent and who you can work with is 90% of the battle.  So, you're in good shape.  Be sure to get copies of all your blood work from your doctor and keep your own history.  It's a really good idea to jot down symptoms and meds just prior to the lab work for future reference.

Usually, the first line of treatment is anti-thyroid meds, like methiazole or PTU.  Be sure to do your research before doing anything more permanent.

Thank you for responding!

So far it seems I have a pretty thorough Dr.  I have already had my Thyroid Scan and Uptake ( which my previous Dr. didn't feel was necessary) and all of the blood tests.  Now it's just hurry up and wait to find out what he thinks.

Thank you again!

Wow - sorry.
Just to clarify the test is called Thyrotropin Recp.
Assuming it's a thyrotropin receptor antibodies test?
