Thyroid Test Meaning

Hello,

I just got back a Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies test and my result says "out of range." The number is 549. Reference Range is <35IU/ml

My THS is 2.15 and Free T4 is .79 L

I am not sure what this means?

I am reading things like Grave's Disease, so thought I should ask come questions to someone who knows before I jump to conclusions. I also know that stress can raise your thyroid levels, so wondering how to bring them down.

Thank you so much!

I'd be looking at Hashimoto's thyroiditis as opposed to Grave's.  Your FT4 is very low, indicating hypothyroidism, not hyper.

The only way to treat hypo is to see a doctor and start thyroid hormone replacement therapy.  Find a doctor (regardless of discipline) that you can work well with since this is a lifelong condition.  Your high antibodies will keep destroying more and more of your thyroid function all the time.

Hi,

I'd make an appt with an Endo to go over your results and get a game plan in action.  Welcome to our Community.  Others will probably jump on in with some more info.
