Climbing thyroid levels long after thyroidectomy

Had partial thyroidectomy over 25 years ago, and remaining thyroid removed about 3 years ago. Prior to the first surgery, was given heart medication to slow down heart rate for 3 months (very overactive). In the interim period my thyroid replacement (levoxyl) remained at the same dosage until about 1-2 years prior to finding additional thyroid nodules and subsequent removal. At that time, my medication was reduced due to hormone levels being high. I had asked why after years of taking the same dose that I would have a sudden change, and I was told that this "happens sometimes." After an auto accident and MRI on my neck, the new nodules were discovered and then removed. My thyroid replacement medication remained the same dosage for over 1-1/2 years, then thyroid levels began climbing again last summer resulting in my dosage being lowered. Today I discovered that I must again lower dosage of my Levoxyl, after a year of normal test results, I am again posting numbers too high. What could be causing this? I take my medication in the morning on an empty stomach, and sometimes forget a dose.
I have been having extreme difficulties losing weight... to lose even a lb. or two is almost impossible. Have problems lately with headaches and heart palpitations. Blood tests last year for pituitary were okay... but no MRI given. Have some recurring side pain in right upper quadrant... no gallbladder... removed 5+ years ago. Any information that could be shared would be gratefully accepted.

If thyroid levels are higher, then medication needs to be increased to bring the levels down.  I would see an Endocrinologist asap.  I have lost weight instead of gaining weight because of proper dosage given and exercise.  Thousands of people in Canada and US have thyroid problems.  This is because of systematic candidiasis built up in the body and the thyroid becomes overworked. Many endocrinologists say this is a theory but it isn't.

I had your same scenerio.  Just had 2 thyroid surgery, this time complete thyroidectomy.  Did you have all of yours removed?  Maybe still some tissue left and producing more hormone.  HAs your doctor checked free T4 or T3 or just TSH?  I know sometimes the other tests may show something more.

My TSH levels climbed too, but my dosage was increased to bring down the TSH numbers.  Are you seeing an endocrinologist?  If not, you better find one.  My red flag warning is heart palps...when I get them, I know that my TSH is probably up.  I'm 7 months post op from a TT due to a goiter...still tweaking the meds...
