No Emotional Support/Went To Private Dr Today

Hi All
Went to private Dr today who has put me on T3 to convert the thyroxine, glad at last I am getting some help even if I did have to pay for it!! It's no fun at all being hypothyroid it rob's us of years!!!
It's so lonely with this illness whenyour a single mum and trying to be positive and then it just creeps up on you and you realise I'm not too good again.
Hormonal at the minute which doesn't help but came out of the consultation and started taking to these people
in the waiting room and got on to the subject of my dad who died of bowel cancer 6 years ago and find myself in floods of tears. It's so sad when your trying to cope and do the best for your son but then you realise theres no one to support you!! My mum is hard and un-feeling doesn't have any empathy/sympathy just labels me as this depressed person, If I was lying on the floor I doubt she would pick me up!!
Will just take every day as it comes and try not to over do myself. Been busy trying to sort my son out to get abursary for a private school think ive overdone myself, its not hard todo with our illness!!
Regards
Lorraine x

Im so sorry you dont get support from your mother.  I know how hard it can be when family aren't supportive.  Im 19 and have hypothyroidism and my family is quite unsupportive, it does get hard when you need that suppport and it isnt there - I know that feeling all too well.

Try to keep positive and hopefully the dr will find the perfect medication for you and you will feel better and more like yourself.

Take care, Nat

The first thing I want to tell you is that T3 med does NOT convert the T4; T3 med is just that T3; it will raise the FT3 levels in your blood, but does nothing to the T4.

I'm very sorry that your mother is so unsupportive.  You are right, this is a hard disease to live with, but as time goes by, you should start feeling better; then hopefully things won't look so bleak.

Take care.
Barb.
