I has elephant feet when hypo before RAI but I was dx hyper and Graves.
Hypo causing fluid retention etc regardless of whether Hashi or Graves most times.
I have the Hands, feet, knees and face swelling..haven't been dx anything else tho...
I have swelling hands and feet -- face swelling went away when I started med. My original pcp said swelling/pain was from arthritis, but I know it wasn't all, because most of it went away once my thyroid levels began to stabilize.
Dont you just love how the Docs blame EVERYTHING on arthritis or Fibro lol?
And if not that..then depression.
Gees....its the damn thyroid that causes the depression in most cases lol !
I was dx Fibro then found I didnt have it.
And I have had arthritis in my fingers since I was about 30...so go figure lol.
Plus coming up to 50 at the end of this year...I would be superwoman if I didnt have some arthritis in my body.
Really i dont know whats what anymore..Is it age..is it thyroid ..is it Peri-menopause..I so dont like the best years of my life right now lol:)
So, I'm not alone. That's kind of a relief. I have been reading that we get the swelling.
I also get bumps on my head and a burning rash along my cheekbones, chest and back, so I started to panic that I had Lupus because I know some auto-immunities go together. I asked my endo for a Lupus test, and she said that while others would leave it alone, I look for diseases.
I'm the one who looked for Hashi and asked for the antibody tests! If not, I might still think it's all in my head.
Anyway, I found an interesting article on Hashi rashes. See below. I had a Lupus test last April that came back negative. I don't get the Lupus fevers, so maybe I just have the typical Hashi rashes and swelling.
