have enlarged thyroid and dont want to operate
I have had an enlarged thyroid glad sice i was a few months pregnant with my now 4yr old son. Without much information , my doctors suggest i operate on it. Is there some treatment to reduce the size or medications to reduce and maintain a healthy thyroid?
I believe there is radioactive iodine treatment, but from what I have learned (I have not had to deal with this problem) you would have to stay away from you son, pets and others for a while because of the radioactivity. You might want to get a second opinion from an endocrinologist.
