hi, just thought i would let you know the latest.
I saw a different GP, a lady, who without me asking has referred me to an endocrinologist.
she says they may treat symptoms rather than test results, even though GPs are not able to do this.
She is also wondering whether the symptoms might be due to a benign pituitary tumor (apparently extremely common) which would explain nearly all of my symptoms.
I will keep you informed.

Hi I would ask your doctor to check for Thyroid Antibodies.
I have found a clinic in harley street who specialise in thyroid disorders. I am considering going there at least for one visit...cost will be the deciding factor though.
Do you have any other symptoms like tinnitus, nail ridges, snoring or muscle cramps? i have developed these over the last year or so too.
PS Thanx to all who have replied to my post.
PPS: i was diagnosed with probable MS a few years ago, despite negative scan and lumbar puncture. I am now wondering if the symptoms i had were actually due to thyroid problems.
my TSH is "normal" too (2.7 but has been as high as 4.5 b4!) - it means nothing this test!!!!! i have researched on the internet and in books and if i was in america they would be treating me i bet!! i have many symptoms which point to thyroid problems and have history of it in my family too.
i get horrible feelings in my throat and like a pressure its almost as if someone is throttling me!!! i am going to see a private GP in Crawley Dr Peatfield to investigate further.
i asked my GP to test my T4 and antibodies but she said she can only try cuz some labs wont do it espec if the TSH is "normal"
a high cholestorol is another sign and the hair loss! my hair went thin when i was younger but seemed to be ok in the end so im confused as hell and been diagnosed with M.E. / C.F.S. i am convinced its hypothyroidism though.
good luck with getting another opinion!
Do they do Free T3 and T4 in the UK, I can confirm that High Cholesterol, High BP amd a number of your other symptoms sound thyroid related, You can have a near normal TSH and still have thyroid problems, here (The Good MD's) also look at the Free T3 and T4 (Hormones) in determining a thyroid problem, you might want to try another MD if this one will not budge, members here have that problem when doctors just go by the book with reference points rather than treat the symptoms, so I would get another opinion. Good Luck FTB4
I'm not sure how much a "stone" is. (I'm in the US.)
But I'd keep trying to figure this out. It sounds like something is going on. Check with a different doctor. And I'm just new to looking at parathyroid disorder symptoms, but I'd investigate that too.
