nature thread and synthroid at the same time

recent labs -    about 8 weeks 2.5  grains naturethroid

tsh  5.6
t4  .8     ------   .8   to 1.8
t3   3.0      2.3  to 4.2

I feel very anxious,   i think the t3 is hitting me still.    She wants me to drop to 2.25   and add 12.5  syn-crap to the equation.     Has anyone heard of this?

thank you  -  from the new guy

I did this combo.  I had horrible side effects and was advised that they were all RT3 related.  Ultimately, I've since returned to a synthetic med after a nice run on NDT and NDT/T4.

I'm on naturethroid and I wasn't right until my labs, frees were much higher than yours. My FT4 is 1.4 and my FT3  is 3.8 (same ranges as your labs)

I knew before my labs came in, I felt so much better...I can't answer why you aren't just increasing your naturethroid, I ended up at 2.25 grain but it's very individual and body weight is a factor etc. according to my NP.

Looks like you need more meds.  Your T3 is still below midrange (midrange would be 3.25, and most feel better a bit higher than mid range) and your t4 is way too low.  It is ok to combine thyroxine and natural thyroid to tweak the balance.  I would have left you at the same dose of nature thyroid for now and added t4 med.  Then retest in 6 weeks and adjust further.

However, next time ask your dr to test FT3 and FT4 (these are free, and represent the bioavailable).

From your anxiety and labs it looks like you need more medicine.   We are all unique, but I am doing well on a combo of levothyroxine (112mcg) and Armour (2 grains).
