need advice! please please please......getting scared!

I was laying in bed tonight. Normally I sleep on two pillows but I was laying flat and all of a sudden it felt...like I was closing up and couldnt breathe as easily. If I turned my head to the left it got a little better.

When I got up the feeling didnt go away completely. My hubby asked me to describe it and its hard! Almost like things have gotten narrower or like the air isnt going down as smooth as it normally does. Like theres something caught in my wind pipe.I THINK I can hear a difference when I breath in but not out.

Im not scheduled for surgery until July 9th. Im SO scared to call the dr because we are to leave for our trip the 28th and Im afraid I wont be able to go!! Yeah yeah your thinking its just a trip but its my parents 50th anniversary, I havent seen them in a year, my dad has cancer, and I havent seen my brother or sister in THREE years! I dont know how many more chances we will have to be toghether again....this might be it!

Has ANYONE felt this way with their breathing????? What did the dr do about it?? What do you think my chances are the dr will say its ok we'll wait until july for surgery????
It got scary so FAST Im afraid it will/can get worse just as fast.

What do I do???????

My SIL had her surgery bcz of the same symtpoms you describe .. she saw the Doc and had her surgery within 2 weeks bcz of the compression.

Looking back she got her answer from 10+ yrs of trips to the ER for breathing problems, people thinking it was allergies but all tests were negative .. they thought aroma from fresh cut flowers in the office, a certain perfume, etc. closed the throat.....then after my surgery she realized the lump she always had was her thyroid and I suggested she have it ck'd out for which she did .. the rest is history ..... no more fear of choking to death .....it was HuGe!

Perhaps your surgeon can give you the name of a surgeon in the locale where you will be staying .. if you are in the US on your trip perhaps if you have that name in your pocket it will be ok to go.

You really need to touch base with your Doc on recent developments ...
