I havent been tested for Graves or Hashimoto's, I was lucky to even get an ultrasound on my thyroid because my Dr said there was no need. The ref range for free T4 is.61-1.24 and I tested .95NG/DL and for the T3 total the range .5-1.7 and I tested 1.13 NG/DL. The ultrasound showed a .7x.5 hypoechoic nodule in right thyroid and my thryoid was slightly heterogeneous. I have appt with endo. but will tak 2 months to get in. I am annoyed at the nodule because I can feel it but not worried. I am just concerned that it is affecting my other sypmtoms which is really affecting my quality of life.
Forgot to mention - many of us have nodules on our thyroid and they cause no problems. I, personally, have quite a few. Your doctor should be sending you for an ultra sound at least 1-2 times/yr.
The recommended range for TSH is 0.3 - 3.0; therefore, at 0.92, your TSH is good. What is the reference range for the FT4? Ranges vary from lab to lab, therefore, must come from your own report. Ranges we usually see for FT4, are something like 0.8-1.8. While yours would be in the "normal" range (if your range is similar to this), your FT4 is too low.
Also, what is the reference range for the TT3? Total T3 is considered outdated and of little value, as it doesn't tell how much hormone is actually available for ready use. Can you get your doctor to do a Free T3?
Have you been tested for thyroid antibodies to test for Hashimoto's Thyroiditis or Graves Disease? Have you had a thyroid ultra sound?
Depending on the reference range for your FT4 and depending on FT3 levels, you might benefit from a low dose of thyroid replacement hormones.
I think your TSH should be between 3 and 3.5, unless you are a cancer patient, then they want it lower than .01. I think that .92 is low. The nodule is something you will have to keep an eye on. Time for a new doctor or a second opinion.
