thyroid nodules

I just found out I have to nodules on the right side of my thyroid, they said thru the sonogram that they are 14mm and 15 mm, and they were calicified.  they recommended a FNA, what are the chances of malignancy.

Thyroid nodules can be funny things... multiple nodules is usually a good indication that they aren't cancerous.  

Have the FNA, see what they say, better to be safe than sorry.  Not a very comfortable procedure but as I said, better to be safe than sorry.

Good luck with the procedure and try and keep positive.

If they are calcified, the chances are higher, but still only 15%.  Are they vascular?  Irregular borders? If vascular, I believe your chances rise to 20%.  Get the FNA, you may have to have them removed.
