Hello,
The Thyroid Functional Test recorded in the month of April-2012 :
(T3) :0.82
(T4) :6.7
(TSH):7.57
After 3 months, The Test recorded in the month of July-2012 :
(T3) :0.77
(T4) :8.5
(TSH):0.12
Pl. explain the conduction, I am advised to change from thyronorm 50mcg to Eltroxin 25mcg.
Yes, you are hypothyroid, not hyperthyroid. Hypo is when the thyroid is under active and hyper is when it's over active. Gets confusing.
Thank u for responding.
Reference Range For Adults is:
(T3) :0.60-1.81
(T4) :4.5 - 12.6
(TSH):0.35 - 5.50
What are reference ranges for the T3 and T4? Are they for "free" T3 and "free" T4 or are they total?
Thyroid replacement hormone should be taken on an empty stomach, with a full glass of water. Then you should have nothing to eat or drink (other than water) for 30-60 minutes. Putting food in your stomach first, or eating right after taking the medication can cause it not to be absorbed properly.
If you forget to take it on an empty stomach, you should go ahead and take it afterward, unless it's almost time for the next dose, but be aware that you won't get the full benefit of the medication, if you don't take it properly; this will keep you from getting well.
Some people have to make schedule changes, to make sure they take it properly. You may have to do this as well.
