tsh after total thyroidectomy

I had my 6 week post op blood work done yesterday. I called my nurse for my results and when she read them I almost fell out of my chair. Originally my tsh was .0001 when I had my blood drawn in March. I had my thyroid removed on 4/10/12 due to modules. I was put on .125 synthroid. I went back in 1 week and had my labs drawn and I was at .0004. So my endo lowered my dosage to .088. Today I asked for my levels and the nurse tells me my tsh is 51.08 & my t4 is 4.78. That's like two total different spectrums. I was really upset, hoping my levels would be starting to straighten out as I'm wanting to conceive my second baby. But I dont see that happening anytime soon. Has anyone else had their levels jump like that? My Dr put me on .112 and I'm getting that filled today. I'm hoping it does the trick!!

My Dr has only tested my tsh, t4 and calcium. My calcium came back as 8.9. That's the only numbers I have. So when I go back in 6 weeks I need to have them check my ft3 &ft4?

Is TSH the only thing being tested?  You need, also, to be tested for Free T3 and Free T4, which are the actual thyroid hormones.

Many people on replacement hormones have suppressed TSH and a doctor trying to regulate you, based on TSH, alone, will keep you on a constant roller coaster.

Med needs to be adjusted, based on FT3 and FT4, along with symptoms, which is most important.

If you have other results, please post them, along with the reference ranges, which vary lab to lab and must come from your own report.
