ultrasound found lymph node problem

by Terri627, Oct 02, 2009 02:08AM
Hi! I haven't been here for awhile. I had my ultrasound done, finally. The tech I had this time was very thorough and listened to what I had to say. My doctor sent me an e-mail the next day to tell me it showed "a very tine lymph node", and that we would watch it, do another ultrasound in 6 months, and if it gets bigger, do a biopsy. Now, I realize we all have lymph nodes, so I guess there was something on the lymph node measuring 0.8 cm. She said it wasn't unusual, and was incidental, whatever that means. So, now I'm left waiting and praying. I don't want to work myself up over nothing, so I'll just try not to think about it as much as possible. Of course, it's only been a couple of days, so it's on my mind now. Anyone else have something similar? What did you do? Wait? Insist on the biopsy now instead of later? Oh, by the way, she said that being the size it is "it's almost too small to do a biopsy". Doesn't that mean it's just big enough to do one? Ugh! Oh well, I hope everyone is having a good week. I can't believe we are in October already!

Hi i cannot comment on the lymph node problem but with biopsy some references say the nodule must be bigger than 1cm and some say bigger than 1.5 cm for a biopsy - i had a biopsy a few weeks ago and can understand that smaller than 1cm may have risks involved - due to the size needle they use and tecnique during the biopsy.  Hope this helps

It does help, thanks. I'll just try to wait it out, and in the meantime do my labs. Hopefully the endo will run the tgab, since they had gone up on the last one.

To: Everyone
Has anyone had levels go from 89.6 to 0.025 in five months?   I have taken meds for 28 years and have always had it checked and meds adjusted.  Now - started having shortness of breath, high blood pressure, chest pain, etc. . . . . .  Test have come back 0.025.  It has never been this low.   Any ideas on what is going on??  MD has referred me to endo before the end of the week.  I would appreciate any ideas AND questions to ask endo.
Thanks

Hi

To what levels are you referring?
