Well finding a good doc I think is the biggest problem of all. I have been through many to get heard. I would say your best bit is an endocrinologist who specialises in the thyroid. But many people here will tell you even then it's often a big struggle to find a decent one that really listens so good luck! Push hard to be heard.

Finding a good Dr. is certainly a challenge.  I got a fabulous referral from friends. 2 with juvenile diabetes, one with Hashi, one with osteoporosis.  They all see the same MD.
You could also ask your pharmacist.  I think they have a good idea, but seldom volunteer information.  You have to ask first.
If your insurance requires you so see a network provider, call them and ask for a gap exception to see a non-network provider.

I am also going to a GP for the past 3 years and did not feel better all the time. I am also confused of how to choose a doctor for myself.

I was also diagnosed with hpothyrodism three years ago but until now they did not run any antibodies test and I was not aware of that. My GP kept on synthroid all these yeara and I never feel better.

Please give some advice on how to select a good/suitable doctor

Thanks

My issues were discovered at a primary-care physician's office.  That office referred me to a clinical endocrinologist who then referred me to a general surgeon.  I was/am happy with all that but can say that later I discovered my father's long-term ENT could have taken care of everything from start to finish (though I not sure all ENT's are also surgeons - he was); if I'd known that I probably would have taken that route because he is so well regarded.  On the other hand, I had several endocrine issues that were getting ruled in or out - not just what was going on in my throat.  So maybe the clinical endo was the best for me at that time.

Ultimately, I'm sure insurance, referrals and all that is probably a factor.

Good luck.

I've been to same: GP, ENT, and have an appt with endo on Tues next week.

No luck with the GP; the ENT is excellent - he's the one who referred me to the endo, so hoping that works out.  If not, I'll just ask the ENT to handle my thyroid issues.

You might start with the GP and see how it goes; if you aren't happy or s/he doesn't listen to you and help you feel better, ask for a referral to either an ENT or an endo.

Good luck

A GP, an ENT or an ENDOCRINOLOGIST.  I went to all of those and ended up with a good ENT.  Hope that helps!
