Clomid first time use

Hi everyone!
I have a couple of questions that I am hoping to you can help with. I've started trying to conceive recently. I stopped taking birth control pills in october, and haven't had regular periods since then. I'm 23 years old and haven't had any major medical problems. I have been using the clear blue fertility tests which have been negative since my last period which started on Jaunary 25th. My doctor said that she wanted to try Clomid with my next cycle to be sure that I am ovulating. Has anyone had a lot of success with this? Are there any really bad side effects? I don't know ANYTHING about clomid...please help!

Hi there.  I have just started clomid 2 nights ago and must take for 3 more days.  One day after I am done with the clomid I am going in for the HSG to see if my tubes are blocked.  I am 38 years old and have never been pregnant.  As for side effects with the clomid...the only thing I find is that it gives me ENORMOUS ENERGY!!!!  Weird, but Im getting alot more done around the house.  I am hoping to have a blessed surprise shortly after my HSG.  Should have gone through all of this years ago, but at least now I will finally find out why I have never been able to get preggo.  Good luck on your journey.  Baby Dust and Hugs to you!!!

Hi! I had somewhat irregular cycles ranging from 28-35 days. The clomid is taken days 5-10 of your cycle to stimulate the hormones/ovaries. This stimulation at the front end of your cycle usually assists with the cycle length by promoting quicker development of the eggs/follicles. I took it during 4 different cycles and didn't have any side effects. In fact, of all the hormonal prescriptions I took last year, the clomid was the least worrisome but greatly beneficial. Another non-drug way of confirming ovulation is tracking your basal body temps over a few months. The topic of BBTs can be found by searching this forum and of course the web. Good luck!!
