Hi Jared,
Intracranial hypertension is not due to high blood pressure. It is a build up of spinal fluid. It would be helpful for you to check out the Intracranial Hypertension Research Foundation website to see if what they describe sounds like what you are experiencing.
Good Luck!
i dont have that because i dont have high blood pressure, that and im 6'1, 155 lbs, and in shape. Im on my 2nd round of antibiotics,(3rd week) and so far i havnt noticed any changes. The stabbing pain like i said comes and goes but the dull pain in the eyes, temples and nose and cheeks stay the same. The dullness will get so bad that my hold head will start hurting and start to pulse. Its been like this for almost 4 months now... i cant take anymore....
Im sure its sinus related but i doubt its from a diviated septum like the ENT said.. PLZ WRITE BACK
Hi Jared,
I have also been having some odd headaches, and in doing some research I have found out about something called Intracranial Hypertension. It is when your body produces cerebral spinal fluid, but doesn't absorb it at the correct rate. It is a rare condition, but worth you looking into. There is a good website by the Intracranial Hypertension Research Foundation. I believe it is ihrf.net, but you should be able to find it doing a search. You will need to see either a neurologist or neuro-ophthamologist. Good luck!!
can anyone relate to this? cause i finished my Amoxacilin, and my headache pains have not gone away..... im starting to worrie, or dose it take a little bit of time for the anti-biotics to kick in? Its been a week since iv finished. PLEASE HELP ME! maybe i need more?
ok, so iv been almost 2 weeks with out this stabbing feeling headache, i went to the ENT and the said i had sinusits, but im not congestid. I guess i have an infection in my head. But just today that stabbing pain came back... it is annoying, its not the most terrible unberrible pain iv had, but its just above my right eye, as usual, and and itll hurt when i rub my nose, and move my lips. I dunno if Anxitey can cause this but its worrying me. The docoter put me on 2 weeks of Amoxacilin...
thank you friend. i going to ent tm
Hello,
Thanks for keeping me posted.
I am stressing again that it looks like a primary headache(most probably cluster headache) or a sinus headache.
It is important for cluster headache has to be ruled out. There is severe shooting pain and is located behind the eye (periorbital) or in the temple, sometimes radiating to the neck or shoulder.Diagnosed by PET scans during active headaches.Treated by triptans, steroids and calcium channel blockers. All these are available on prescription and so an evaluation be a physician/neurologist is mandatory. Also pls consult an ENT surgeon and get sinus headache ruled out.
Hope this helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
Thank you so much for the Msg back!
The pain has stretched to back of my head today. No pressure of frontal or temple headache, instead when i walk or jump up and down, the back of my head and behind my ears will throb.
I have had a history of sinus infections, and this is sorta odd for me. And i also have a history with Allergies. Iv tryed every pain killer there is except perscription ones, none do the job. Now, they might help a little bit, but the pain is always there, so i never notice if it is. Im going to ENT doctor tommorrow i hope. I hope i dont have to get surgary, because it sounds as if fluid is filling up in the back of my head, because when i walk, i feel little small pops in the back of my head, accompained wiht pain.
I dont think its serious thoe, because its never been to the point where i need to go the hospital, but to the point where i feel like ill go nuts.
I also have terrible anxiety...=(
Hello,
Without examintion, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough, but there are various possibilities for your symptoms.First of all,it can be due to sinus headaches, Sinus headaches are caused by sinus congestion and inflammation (called sinusitis). The sinuses are air-filled spaces lined with mucous membranes surrounding the forehead, cheeks and eyes. Healthy sinuses allow mucus to drain and air to circulate throughout the nasal passages. When sinuses become inflamed, these areas get blocked and mucus cannot drain. This lack of proper sinus drainage can lead to pain.
Then it can be due to primary headaches. Primary headaches include migraine, tension-type, and cluster headaches.Thirdly,it can be due to eyesight changes but the chances of this are bleak.
Apply alternate warm and cold compresses, elevate the head while sleeping and take some over the counter NSAID analgesic(pain reliever) like ibuprofen(advil/motrin) or acetaminophen.Application of muscle relaxant to the part is also helpful.
If the symptoms persist, then pls consult a physician.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
if you couldnt tell, its been affecting my typing skills too i guess. lol, whill i ment to say "Havent" instead of have and the end of the first paragraph, and i meant to say high "on" marijuana, not "and".
