What kinds of medications have you been on? Any?
I have not been taking any medications. I'm also a very picky eater, so I don't eat different stuff. Just the same ole same ole.
Hello. You could still have food allergies. I am allergic to several foods that I have eaten all of my life. My food allergies didn't show up until I was 35. Your symptoms sound very much like mine. I would wake up in the night with stomach pain and itching. First time couple of times I didn't think anything about it, because it went away in about an hour or so. The next time started the same way, but I couldn't breath and my tongue began to swell. I went to the ER and ended up in anaphalaxis. Shaking uncontrollably, bp & hr were way off. I was almost unconcious. Given Epipen and benadryl and not sure what else. They said since I had not been on any medicine I was having an allergic reaction to food. I had to go to an allergist and have tests run and found out that I am allergic to cinnamon, grape and cream cheese (no other dairy). Now I have to read all ingredients and carry an Epipen with me. You really need to have tests run. Allergic reactions tend to only get worse, so you need to know what you need to avoid and you probably need to carry an Epipen. I was really scared that I would die and the worst thing is I could have. Good luck and I hope you find out what is causing your reactions.
Thank you for your comments. We thought about food too. I just can't find anything in commen with the foods that I eat. The first time it happened 5 hours after I ate Homemade Meatloff. The second time was 6 hours after I ate Cheesy Hashbrown Hamburger Helper. Third time was 6 hours after I ate pizza, from a pizza restuarant. The last time was 4 hours after I ate grilled Pork Roast and a baked potato. We do not add seasonings to anything homemade. We add it to each persons plate if wanted. The onlything I add is a little salt. Hmmmm I'm probably going to have to go have the testing done.
Hi. Hopefully, you won't have another reaction, but it might be helpful to write down what you are eating and drinking. This may help the allergist. Usually they only test the basic foods like fish, eggs, milk, nuts etc. I was not allergic to any of those. I had to do more indepth testing. I just happened to remember the few things that I had had on those nights that I had reactions. My reactions would happen about 5-6 hours later also. I thought that allergic reactions would happen immediately, but now I know they can wait. Maybe you are allergic to something you drank or maybe some ingredient in the sauces used in those foods you had. I have to be careful on sauces because I am allergic to grape. Red wine vinegar made from grapes is in a lot of sauces. Also, can't drink most juices because most have grape in them. Cinnamon is in so many things too. You are probably allergic to something you never would have thought of. Let us know what you find out. Good Luck!
I fogot to mention, that I also was told that often the more you consume of a certain food the more likely you can become allergic to it. That's what I think happened to me and grape. I used to eat grapes daily and drink lots of juice. I also used to eat bagels and cream cheese at least 3 times a week. Don't know about the cinnamon. Now I am really picky about letting my kids eat the same things over and over. They are also more at risk to have food allergies because I have them. That really scares me. I don't want them to suffer like I did. Once again, good luck!
Have you thought about a possible reaction to MSG. It's in so many foods -especially sauces. You may want to Google MSG sensitivities.
Good luck! Theresa
