Anion Gapt Test results

recently had blood work done and had an Anion Gap result of 16, h;igher than the range for adults.
What could this mean?  Should I be concerned?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
The average anion gap for healthy adults is 8-12 mEq/L. A slightly higher gap is seen in acidosis—lactic acidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis, alcohol abuse, use of iron supplements and aspirin. Discuss this with your doctor.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
