BAD edema in feet and leg

While in Fla in Sept, my feet began to swell, one worse than the other. Then the ankles, then into my leg. Nothing helped. It was hot there, but was mostly in the house (taking care of sick sister)
Flew home 9 days later, spent one night at home, woke up and ALL the swelling was gone and it has not returned. What can this be?

I get the same exact thing.  Doctor doesn't seem to be worried.  Went for a complete cardio exam.  All's well.  He said it's my flip flops and sandals with no support to my feet (which are flat).  Only happens when the weather warms up and I wake up to normal ankles and feet.  I just want to know if there's any way to stop it as I love my summer shoes but I look like I have pigs feet!

Climate change, heat and humidity can be the major culprits in your case.  As long as you didn't have any pain or discoloration I wouldn't worry too much about it.
