Bizarre symptoms! Worrisome!

Something seriously doesn't feel right. I have been having some strange symptoms now for around 4 months. It all started like this....I was lying in bed one night with the lights off, I opened my eyes but couldn't see anything, it was pitch black! I panicked because I lost my sight but all I could do was hold my eyelids open, checking that I somehow just lost the ability to open my eyes! Even though I knew they were open, I just couldn't understand why I lost my vision. This was very brief, maybe around 5 seconds. I stood up and vision came back as if someone had switched a light on! Anyway, this was a while ago, I soon forgot about it.

Then I started getting pain under my left rib area, sudden sharp pains. Then I stated having a very achy, heavy, stuff feeling in my left shoulder, underarm and all the way down to the fingers. This comes and goes but is very frequent. It's getting worse, as my hand is becoming very stiff at times and almost looks slight deformed. The heavy feeling in my arm is getting worse too. On the left side under my rib, a bit higher up from where I get shooting pains, I a vibrating feeling there. It feels tight too. I put my hand over that area cause it feels better applying pressure.

I have these severe headaches, it's odd because I've never suffered with them before. They're really intense and on the left side of my head, mainly around the temple area, it gradually gets worse and I get an achy pain in my cheekbone and jaw. The skin around that area is very sore to touch, feels like it's bruised and remains like that long after headache subsides. As the headaches got worse, I started having eye flickering and loose focus of vision. Jaw jerking as well! Pain down the neck, tight feeling. Bright lights don't bother it or make it worse but lying down does.

I get tingling in my soles of the feet and calfs, mainly the right one. Sometimes they ache, sometimes they burn slightly and get a sensation that there's a vibrating aura on my legs. I get electrical spark type pains but really painful as such. They're random all over the leg, as if electrical currents flying around. Sometimes it feels like ants are crawling on my legs too. I have muscle twitches, random one offs or a rhythm in any muscle. Not often but st times from one muscle to another in a completely different body area.

I haven't told my doctor any of this but she has referred me for a neck ultrasound - there isn't any lumps but some swelling on and of in the thyroid area. Doctor said it just feels odd. Swelling comes and goes. However, I have got new swelling on the left side of neck just above collarbone. I have very tender lumps in both of my armpits all small but one it twice the size. One on the lumps feels sharp. They are red when they first flare up. If I move my arm up, it feels a little stingy. I have a hard, fixed, painless lump on my skull just behind my ear. I'm not too sure if there's two lumps joined together or just a irregular shape.

Oh I occasionally get a hot feeling going down my right side of head, down my neck. Sometimes I have night sweats, the bedding is very wet and I have to dry off with a towel. But this only happens maybe, 2 or 3 times a week.and some night my legs get very itchy.

I'm sure there are many more symptoms that I've missed out, but these are the main one. Please can someone give me any clue on what this could possibly be?? I know it's something, so I need pointing in the right direction. Any information would be highly appreciated. Many thanks.

Hi,

Well, I ending up having an emergency MRI scan of the head, as I woke up having a severe myoclonus torso type seizure. The neurologist, said the scan results were 'fine', and that it was more likely caused by Functional neurological disorder, however, I discovered that the neurologist has referred me for a full spinal MRI. I have no idea why, I stumbled upon this, when I called the hospital enquiring about a ultrasound on my neck. The lady said I'm booked in for that, as well as a full spinal scan.

I feel like there is something they have detected something, but reluctant to speculate with me, until they have solid evidence or maybe they just want to rule other possibilities out.....my gut feeling is they do think there is something wrong with the neurological aspect, but then again, what do I know.

My uncle has primary progressive MS, and with speaking to him the other day, my symptoms are almost identical to his....

Hope you have found answers, and getting to the bottom of it.

There are some vein compression syndromes of the abdomen that could be the cause of all of your problems. Left renal vein compression (Nutcracker Syndrome) and Left iliac vein compression (May-Thurner Syndrome). I have May-Thurner and know someone that has May-Thurner and Nutcracker and from personal experience know that almost no doctors ever think of these conditions so they often go undiagnosed. They sometimes happen together causing Midline Congestion Syndrome. If you want to read some great articles on these conditions search Dr. Thomas Scholbach-- Scholbach.de
One of his articles is titled:
From the nutcracker-phenomenon of the left renal vein to the midline congestion syndrome as a cause of migraine, headache, back and abdominal pain and functional disorders of pelvic organs.

Hello, I am sorry you are having so many issues. I would certainly see another doctor, possibly a neurologist and have a battery of tests run. I don't like the sound of some of your symptoms, I would not put it off much longer.
