Blood coming from vagina after removal of appendix

My sister had her appendix removed on saturday. She noticed when she went to the loo after, she felt like she had an infection. She says there is a clear bloody fluid coming out of her, and that her vagina feels as if its been attached with a razor blade. Is this normal ?

If a foley catheter was inserted before or during surgery to help empty her bladder, she very well could have a urinary infection caused by the catheter.  It could also simply be irritation due to the catheter (they certainly are not the most comfortable things).

I would say I totally agree that she needs to contact her surgeon and inform him of her symptoms and see what they say - they may want to see her or they may simply call in a prescription for an antibiotic to see if it helps.

I hope she starts to feel better soon.

I'd say... no. She should seek medical assistance.
