Bulge above navel...

I have a bulge above my navel (left-center). No pain or discomfort. Sometimes feel like its tingling, but not always( twice a day). I'm 32, morbid obese (307 lbs.) On no meds, I don't feel sick in any way. The bulge doesn't move and it's not hard, when I push on it I don't feel anything different. Went to doctors about a month ago, and was having constipation but the doctor seemed that it wasn't a big deal. It hasn't increased in size. Any ideas?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
In all probability what you have is a para-umbilical hernia. This  occurs close to the belly button. The contents of the hernia sac are intestine, mesentry (soft tissue attached to intestine), blood vessels, fat tissue etc. The sac may also be empty. By itself, the hernia does not cause any problem but if it increases in size, it may cause strangulation of the contents of the sac and this is a medical emergency. Treatment involves reducing weight, avoiding constipation, avoiding strenuous work and lifting weight. Hernia is repaired by surgery. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
