Can disc issues cause face tingling and numbness (on one side)?

I have had tingling/numbness from the upper left chin, bottom of the cheek, the corner of the lips, up to the tip of my nose (all left side).  After a couple of weeks, I went to my GP and he assumed it was trigeminal neuralgia but referred me to a Neurologist.  I have had a herniated disc in my lower back and have had issues with pinched nerves in my upper left back and neck.  The Neurologist didn't seem to know what it could be (I understand it's difficult without any testing), and said that it could not be neck (disc) issues.  Next up is a brain MRI/MRA.  Is it possible that it is disc related?  (I am a 48 yr old male in good health, with no other known issues)
