Oops- I mispelled arrhythmia. I see that Taber's Cyclopedic Medical dictionary defines sinus arrhythmia as "Cardiac irregularity characterized by an increased heart rate during inspiration and decrease in heart rate on expiration." It states it has no clinical significance except in older patients where it might happen with coronary artery disease. I did think it weird to see "normal" and "arrhythmia" together!
Regarding the heart problems doctornee brought up- have you, Piscean Age had an echocardiogram or just an electrocardiogram?
Vestibular problems when you have an inner ear disorder, can cause off balance feelings and feelings of dizziness, like is the case with a close relative of mine. But as doctornee points out, there are many other potential causes as well.
Another cause for chest pain is muscular, and if you are well-endowed, this is more likely to be an irksome problem. Typically, you can pinpoint this kind of chestpain to a very small area that is the source of a great deal of pain. If this sounds like your situation, you might ask your doctor if a short round of anti-inflammatories would be right for you.
Are you receiving any treatment for your TMJ disorder? I have trouble laying on both my sides due to jaw arthritis. I use a flat-planed stabilization splint at night which helps keep me from getting more and worse migraine headaches (I'm a clencher).
Hi
Welcome to the forum!
Sinus arrhythmia is a normal phenomenon of mild increase and slowing of the heart rate that occurs with breathing in and out. When you are having an ECG and are feeling nervous or anxious, this will happen. This is nothing to worry about.
The chest pain and pressure could be due to anemia, poor sleep pattern, acidity, GERD, gastric ulcer, hiatal hernia, stress, and anxiety. GERD was ruled out by endoscopy?
The commonest causes of light headedness and dizziness are anemia and hypoglycemia or low blood sugar due to poor eating habits generally. These can be known by simple blood tests. Disturbed sleep patterns (like insomnia) and stress are the two other causes.
Heart problems like mitral valve prolapse is another cause.
Other causes are claustrophobia, cervical nerve compression, inner ear problem, postural hypotension or blood pressure falling with change of position, and some endocrine problems such as an underactive thyroid (called hypothyroidism), overactive thyroid (called hyperthyroidism), adrenal insufficiency (called Addison's disease), and in some cases, diabetes, may lead to hypotension and hence lightheadedness and an off balance feeling.
Hope this helps. Discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Sinus arrhthmia is abnormal. does the pain occur while resting or just with exertion? Have you had your inner ears checked by an ENT for your off balance & dizzy feelings?
