Chest Pain

by pritz, Oct 08, 2007 01:37AM
I am a 24 year old woman.I have pain in the upper quadrant of my left breast/or probably chest (not sure). My chest xray and sonomammography are normal. The mammogram just mentioned an assymetric breast tissue in the right breast (while my left breast aches), which the doctor mentioned was normal.I consulted two doctors, both say it could be due to hormonal imbalance (fibrocystic). The pain has persisted since the past three years. Earlier it used to resurface once in a while. Since two months, the pain just doesnt go away. The doctors also said that it is not likely to be cardiac pain. I had an ECG done for a preemployment test in May 2007, which was normal.Should I go for the ECG test once again?

Also, I have pain in my shoulder, back and left arm, which the doctors ascribe to occupational hazards.Sometimes the pain seems to ***** me in the breast and back. I have to sit in front of the computer continuosly for long hours. I dont have a family history of breast cancer. I dont drink or smoke. Please help,

Hi,

This pain could be related to the fibrocystic breast disease you mention. It would be advisable to consult a breast specialist.

'Some simple measures, such as adequate support of the breasts and perhaps wearing a bra at night, may provide relief from many of the symptoms of fibrocystic breast condition. Antiinflammatory medications, including acetaminophen and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory medications (NSAIDs), often reduce the breast pain significantly.

There are reports suggesting that a variety of vitamins may be of benefit in relieving the symptoms of fibrocystic breast condition. These have included vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin B6 and vitamin A, among others. '
