Chilliness and persipiration without fever

by psk2606, Feb 05, 2009 07:46AM
I have had a Micro Discectomy about 2.5 weeks back. I was on NSAIDS for about 2 weeks. Last Saturday I stopped all the pain killers. Within 12 hours of stopping the pain killers, I started having this problem of chilliness and persipiration. I fel very cold when I am under a fan  and start perspiring when I am under blankets or otherwise also Sometimes my body just starts perspiring though there is no visible sweat. I just feel the stickiness.

My CBC is normal, SGOT is normal, Urine routine is normal, SGPT is high at 79, Malaria and typhoid tests are negative, Am awaiting Blood Culture.
Am not sure what the problem is here.. Doctors are saying that there seems to be some infection but are not able to pinpoint the focus of infection. Have taken a round of Feronem 200mg X 3 per day for 4 days. Am currently on
Anhydrous Cefixime 400mg x 2 per day. As yet they have not been helpful. Any help in understanding what could be the cause here would be very helpful.

Hello,

As there is excessive sweating without any fever,so causes of secondary hyperhidrosis need to be ruled out.Pls note that chilliness is there when the sweat evaporates from the body.Secondary hyperhidrosis may be due to menopause(in females),use of aspirin or acetaminophen in overdose, hyperthyroidism and endocrine and neurological alterations.

Pls discuss these possibilities with your physician. Also get your thyroid hormone levels estimated.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted in case of any additional doubts.
