Blue Arm Veins

I am 22 years old, had a baby 10 months ago.  I am 5'6 and about 140lbs.  I don't work out.  Recently I've noticed that the veins in my arms (especially my dominant arm) are very visible and blue.  I don't know if it's normal.  I'm certainly not underweight- so I know it's not just thin skin or anything like that.  Anyone have any ideas?  Only my husband has mentioned it.  So I don't know if it's really noticeable to others.  But it bothers me.

Hello,
The symptoms can be due to subclavian vein thrombosis. It usually results from the excessive use of the involved arm by predisposed individuals. This causes prominence of the involved vein and also sometimes cyanosis of the area.

I would suggest a venography to rule out the possibility.Pls consult a vascular surgeon to confirm a diagnosis.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted.

Hi,

Some people physiologically have thicker and more prominent veins in their dominant arm. However, you need to check your left breast. Some diseases of the breast (infections, early cancer) might lead to this kind of thing.
