Cold sore with eye pain and headache????

Sunday night I got hit with a nasty cold sore. Hooray!! Anyway, it seemed to be ok, in comparison to the usual, but then this morning, Tuesday, I woke up with eye pain and a headache on the same side as my cold sore. This is the first time I've ever experienced this. Has anyone experienced this before? Does it have anything to do with one another? It is also more swolen today then before.

Does anyone know what makes one's cold sore bigger than anothers? I get lucky. I get the really bit nasty kinds, which turns red and swells up in pain. :(
Thanks!

well i get cold sores alot and they get worse with stress or eat too many acetic foods (i ate alot of oranges when i was sick for the vitamin c then i got a nasty cold sore from it) and for cold sores on your face you need more lysine which is just an amino acid which is good for your skin... and whenever i'm about to feel one coming on i pop in some vitamins and it never forms.... so ... id try that... but idk about all the other pain your getting... i dont think it would have to do with a cold sore

As to the head pain, sometimes one of the trigeminal nerves can be affected by the same virus that causes cold sores. If the pain continues or worsens you may want to visit your doctor. Show them the exact location(s) of your pain and ask if your symptoms are consistent with trigeminal neuralgia.
