Cronic upper shoulder grinding pain.

I am 20 years old and for about the last 5 years I have had this pain in my upper left shoulder. When I first noticed the cracking/crunching noise in my back it caused no discomfort, besides the unknown noise it made, after about a year it became more and more painful.

I have seen my doctor numerous times, she has sent me for x-rays, ultra sounds, bone scans, mri's and i have been to the physio therapst many times. noone can seem to find anything wrong. all they ever say is my muscles look inflamed.

I can only describe the pain as a full 10 on the scale of one to ten, some days it's not as bad, but most of the time it is a full 10. There is a cracking/grinding/poping noise in my back whenever I rotate my left shoulder, my doctors tell me if thats the reason it hurts, to stop rotating that shoulder, but the thing is , it hurts more if i dont. The doctors and all the specialist are completly stumped, and so am I..

I have never seen or heard of anyone with this same problem. if anyone out there has this or simular things, what do you do for the pain.? my doc just has me on pain killers and i use heat pads but  they dont really seem to help. if any one has any sugguestions, id love to hear.

I too agree with Candygirl1128 here, a ciropractor can help and identify any bone alignment issues that might be the root cause of the issue.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Shoulder pain can be due to various reasons like rotator cuff injury, arthritis, muscle injury or inflammation. It can be involvement of acromio-clavicular joint (hence this should be tested) or the muscles around joint. Creatinie kinase should be tested to rule out muscle injury since the main shoulder joint does not show any pathology.
Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!

You need  to see an Osteopath or failing that a Chiropractor my help.  It sounds like something is a little out of place and maybe a movement you keep on doing compounds the problem.
