Graying vision... papilledema?

Hello, I am new to this forum, and have come to have some kind of evaluation that may be helpful. I am a 21 y.o., weight: 123 , and 5'7.

Since towards the end of 2005, I have had a regular, recurring pattern of my vision graying for seconds (no loonger than 10 seconds, it seems). I did a test by covering each of my eyes when the graying happened, and I noticed that both eyes were involved. In the beginning it did not happen daily, but maybe 3-5 x/wk.

So now, I forward ahead to December 2006. One morning within seconds of standing up, my vision blacked out completely, and I had a sycopal fall and hit my head. I am not sure how hard I hit my head as I was unconscious when it happened. I was leaning against my daughter's crib, shoulders convulsing for a few seconds when I regained myself.

Since then, my vision graying when I stand, and sometimes as I sit up, is now daily, several x/day.

I went to my a family practicioner, BP was fine, sitting, lying, and standing. No orthostatic problems. EkG negative for rhythm irregularities.

Could this be something due to a choking of my optic disc?

Thank you for your time and your reply.

Thank you two for your replies.. as I've never been to this forum, I thought I had posted to a Dr. I didn't know there was a charge on MedHelp until after posting.

I know I need to see a Dr. The few clinics I've been on the phone with have felt that I should be referred to a neurologist, as well. It is very difficult not to have health insurance. It's all out-of-pocket for me now.

Thank you again,
Elizabeth

Hi,

This sounds neuro to me, you need to get further checks ASAP.
As a migraine sufferer, i know this can cause the vision to grey, but you need to check out other things like MS etc to be sure.
On the other hand, it might still be your BP, especially since sometimes your symptoms are postural.

I hope you get yourself sorted, best of

Katie :)

I think you're beyond the expertise of the public on an internet forum.  This sounds like it is nothing to mess around with,  and you need some really definite answers from people who can run tests on you.  You seem to have a good grasp of the problem,  and it will now take doctors who can test you,  to determine the cause.

Best wishes.  This sounds scary,  and you have a baby in the balance,  so prayers for a good outcome.
