weird symptom

I  have asked this question to doctors, communities and other forums and really haven't found any answer.

Does anyone know what vascular crowding on a CT or Xray means?

I had a CT and Xray of my chest and heart last year and just got the results (long story) but no one can tell me what this means, what it's related to or any condition that would cause this.  I know it means something about the blood vessels.

I googled it and the only thing I find is lung collapse & emphysematous bullae.  As far as I know, I do not have anything lung related only heart related.  I called the hospital and asked for the full report since all they sent was the diagnosis page.

any help is appreciated =)

Lisa:

Since the experts aren't giving you any answers, I will take a stab at it with the disclaimer that I am not an expert, but I do transcribe a lot of x-ray reports.  I suspect that the terminology "vascular crowding" might be a finding in someone whose body is coping with serious chronic heart or lung problems.  If the body has time, I believe it can make new blood vessels if the body isn't getting the blood flow it wants.  So maybe now there are more vessels there than normal.  Perhaps it is mentioned on a radiology report more because the extra vessels make it harder to read the x-ray than normal.  Maybe the vessels are blocking other important landmarks and important features, including the arteries that are usually reported on.

Your condition sounds very serious and not very common.  I hope you find a qualified doctor you can talk to.

I appreciate it and I've been on MH for 16 months or so in the heart and dysautonmia  communities.  Thanks for taking the time to respond; I just wasn't sure if I needed to make an appt with a lung dr along with my heart ones since all I could find was lung related info when I googled it.

The hospital is sending the detailed reports and films that I'll be taking to my new dr's sometime in Nov when my new insurance goes into effect.  What you say makes alot of sense with the problems I've had, and after I find out what it means I'll let you know.

33167  is my birthday =) March 31, 1967   I live near Tampa.  I asked a heart specialist here and on all experts and they do not know what this is or what causes it only that it may be related to the vessels, which vessels they did not say.

I just got the report after a year of fighting with my dr to get them, even after offering to pay for all my records :P  I had to complain to someone to make them give it to me...

I have a malignant form of heart arrhythmia's called Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia and I had to have a pacemaker/defibrillator implanted due to SCD,  I also have cardiomyopathy, enlargement of the heart, LVH, MCP, TR,  NCS/OI; possible ARVD, and a long list of other things wrong.

I've spent a year going through 4 cardiologists, 2 EP's and 2 pcp's for someone to figure out what is wrong. None of these dr's (even USF specialists) can find the cause of my problems and only treat symptoms but don't follow up to figure out anything.

Since I just got the reports, going through them and finding no reference material to these findings I asked and have found no answers.

Thanks for the help =)  these questions are on a long list to ask a dr when I go back in the middle of November.

I see that you are in Miami (33167 zip). Why you just got the report a year later says that the vascular crowding isnt lethal. Miami is one of the most progressive medical centers of the USA...follow up with your MD there is a good idea.
I'm from Miami, now in NC and aside from Duke Univ hospitals feel like my life is in my own hands.

Vascular is more to do with the heart not the lungs actually. It could mean when it says Vasucal crowding, could mean blood clots or your cell count is off somewhere in that area, which should be looked at, I don't know for sure, don't hold me do it, try instead of calling a doctor, go see a doctor have them do tests on you, to detect what it could be.
