Low intact pth and low vitamin D with normal calcium levels

I have had so many tests and exams over the last 2 years and still don't have a diagnosis! I have left side rib pain all the time, i get severe muscle cramps in my legs, top of ankles and in feet every day and have lost 80 pounds without trying. I have severe fatigue, i don't want to do anything. Also have a racing heartbeat--just checked it now while been sitting still for quite a while and it is 118 beats a minute. I take klonopin 1mg twice a day. that should lower my rate, I would think?
The only thing my doctor found was low vitamin D. I have been taking Calcitriol for over a year now. Currently my dose is 3- .5mg pills every day. I have been taking this dose for aprox....5 months. I just had a blood test done again last week and the results were as follows..... all 3 vitamin d levels were <4 and my intact pth was 9.7.
I am a 36 year old female. I can't find anything that would relate to these test results. My calcium is normal.
I have an appointment with an endocrinologist but it's not until the end of January. i would like some sort of idea as to what is going on with me. I wish there was a real Dr House. :)
Is there anyone out there that can give me any ideas as to this?

Have they tested you for diabetes?  Uncontrolled diabetes can involve eating a lot and yet losing weight- a friend of ours was fairly recently diagnosed with this.  He was not feeling good and had lost weight without trying.  Also, with any dramatic weight loss without trying in a short time frame, they should be trying to rule out cancer as the cause.
Regarding your pain below your left breast- they should check your heart, if it is located low like mine is.  They should check your lung.  They should check your stomach and your esophagus.
Regarding PTH- see private message.

Just as reference to my weight loss. i am 5 foot 10 inches and weighed 210 pounds I now weigh 127. I think i have lost all that I can possibly lose. I am very weak compared to what I was able to do before. So I believe I have lost alot of muscle weight too. basically i have skin on bone. Not pretty naked. :) i eat alot too. So that is not the problem. I usually eat twice as much as most people.
The reason he referred to the endo was because of the PTh being 9.7. Do you know anything about PTH that may help?
I have been going to so many doctors but they can't find a problem. it kind of makes feel like I just must be crazy.

thank you for your post. the left side rib pain is just under my left breast and severe at times, to where i try not to breathe.
I don't know if my doctor has checked my potassium level, I will ask him.
I've never had my pulse taken in my feet, but my legs are not colder than the rest of my body.
My TSH, T3 & T4 were normal, but my PTH was 9.7 and was considered very low.

I just hope the endocrinologist can figure this all out. I don't see him until the 23rd of January.

Thanks

Left sided rib pain- what part of the ribs?

Severe muscle cramps in legs, tops of ankles and feet- is your potassium level normal?  How are your pedal (foot) pulses?  Are your legs also cold compared to the rest of you?

Lost 80 pounds without trying- Have you had your TSH, free T 3 and T 4 tested?

Severe fatigue- How are your iron and ferritin levels?  How is your stress level?

Not wanting to do anything- sounds like if you are taking antidepressive medication, it is not sufficient for your mood.  Have you tried naturemade brand of SAM-e?  How about flaxseed oil or enteric coated fish oil capsules?  How about foods with omega fatty acids such as macadamia nuts, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, and freshwater fish, like tuna and salmon?

Regarding racing heart- have they ever tested your fasting plasma free metanephrines?  Is your standing heartrate much more than your sitting?  And again, how is your iron level (not talking about CBC), because low iron can cause tachycardia.

Hypothalmus regulates body temperature, so I hope they take a look at that.  Have you ever considered dysautonomia (see forum on medhelp)?  Some people with dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system have tachycardia and feel cold even when it's not cold in the room.

You said all the dr. found was low vit. D, but in your title you mention low PTH (parathyroid hormone?) and do you have a low level of this?

See PM re: causes of vit. D deficiency.

I also have a low body temp, the average is 96.5.......It used be be normal. I also have low back pain like maybe my kidneys. Why can't they figure out what's going on with me? it's been almost 2 years and its getting worse.
