Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
A resting pulse rate or heart rate of 53/min is often normal for a person of your age but may indicate an underlying disease. As Caregiver said, the reading alone is meaningless. Cardiac causes of low pulse rate are failing heart, arrhythmia, degenerative myopathy, heart attack, or due to a valve disease.
Non cardiac causes can be drug or alcohol abuse, hypothyroidism, electrolyte imbalance, prolonged bed rest, and autoimmune disease. If indeed you have a resting heart rate of around 50 or below, please get this checked ASAP, by a cardiologist. It is important to reach at the conclusion that it is normal for your age.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
The figure is meaningless without being connected with a blood pressure reading.
It's a tad low, but within normal lmits.
There are many missing pieces.
