Kidney pain with unknown cause, any ideas?

Hi... Thanks for taking the time to read this... I have been having severe pain in the area of my right kidney for going on 3 days now... here are some of the symptoms

- Very sharp, stabbing pain in the right kidney
- Pain worsens DRAMATICALLY with physical activity
- Sometimes makes it difficult to take normal to deep sized breaths
- Acute, started with no real warning.
- Bending in any direction (especially forward or to the left) causes shots of pain.
- No fever
- Urine looks normal and is pain free

I don't have insurance, so I am trying to avoid going to the hospital unless absolutely necessary, I would really appreciate your input and thoughts. Thank you!

This is most likely a kidney stone. However, you at least need to get checked for a Urinary Tract Infection, because untreated, it can spread to the kidneys, and cause major trouble. The fact that you have no fever does make an infection less likely though. Many people are able to pass kidney stones on their own if the stone is small. If you have a sudden increase in pain that is unbearable, or a large amount of blood in your urine though, you'd better go to the ER. Do you qualify for any state program like medicaid? Some hospitals also have income based fee scales, but you may have to call around.
