Unknown Origin

Had Dinner last night and order a double expresso cappuccino and all of a sudden noticed that I became jittery. As I got home I had sever diarrhea followed by sweaty, sever headache, nausea, left upper arm tightness, clammy feet, general over all weakness. I tried to hydrate with water and laid down. Not sure what to make of this.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
It could be the combined effect of coffee and food poisoning. Take an OTC lactobacillus preparation (probiotics) and yoghurt with your meals. Drink plenty of fluids (clear soups, water, ORS in water, lemonade). Eat light, do not stay hungry but eat simple things like toast, porridge, cereals, crackers, banana, rice, peeled apple, etc. Take over the counter antacid and antiemetic (this SOS for vomiting). Watch out for a day or two with this treatment. If still the symptoms persist, then you may need an antibiotic for the gut and would need to see a doctor. If after the antibiotic course too the symptoms persist, then there is a chance that you have developed either IBS or some food intolerance. In that case you would need to consult a gastroenterologist.
Please go through as advised. In all probability things will settle down. At any time you feel that symptoms are worsening (more than 8-10 loose stools in 24 hrs, vomiting, feeling faint, high fever etc) please go to the ER.
Take care!

if you have that kind of a reaction you cannot have that much caffeine you are sensitive to it try going with out it and you will feel much better. Caffeine ins't healthy for you and when you feel dehydrated drink low calorie gator-aid not water the electrolytes are not high enough to help you once you have all the symptoms you have stated.
