I had the same tongue and gum pain your discribing. I went to my PCP and i had oral thrush, with some nasty chalky pills i had to suck on it was gone in 3 days! might be worth a shot!
Wait, so I should rule out those two or shouldnt?
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Herpes and HPV infection too should be ruled out with a history of unprotected sex and swollen lymph node.
The tongue could be painful due to iron or multi vitamin deficiency. It could also be due to oral thrush or fungal infection. Contact dermatitis or reaction to some irritant in food can be another cause.
Use glycerin gel and clean the mouth well and tongue with a tongue cleaner (if there are no patches on the tongue). Take iron and multivitamin supplement and see if they help.Add Vitamin C and citrus fruits and lactobacillus preparations to your prescription.
It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
bump. It said I had a new reply but I guess not? I also should include the fact that my gums have been very sensitive and bleed easily.
