Lump on side of shin after vigorous treadmill

I was using a treadmill on steep incline, and I started feeling a pain in the front outside area of my shin. Upon not so clise inspection I could see a large bump in the area where the pain was prevalent. The large bump remains there, but I have not used the treadmill for over a month. It is unsight and is almost 4-5 inches directly above my ankle. I would like to know whatg it could be, and how I can treat it, or what type of medical care I should pursue please?

Thank you. After hints I received in this posting I have deduced that I have a fascial hernia in the anterior tibialis muscle of my right front leg.  I saw pictures online of the injury, and mine is in the exact same spot, and has the exact same symptoms. My question now is what is the treatment for this injury. Also, what step should I be taking until I can get to the doctor. I.e .....Can I still do exercise like the glider, bike, and treadmill at the gym????

it could be a cyst caused by an inflammation due to sudden stress and bad exercise.

alternatively a muscular problem that could in turn originate from a systemic muscular problem.

ultrasound, MRI, there are even some blood tests for indirect signs of systemic muscular problems.

Thanks, and I should have said. It is not discolored at all. Normal flesh color. I notice it hurting only when I do the treadmill incline.  At times it looks like a second ankle up higher on the leg only.

It could be a varicose vein OR a blood clot? Is it red, does it feel warm? Is it still painful? Throbbing? It is smart to limit your activity until you know what it is. AND, a blood clot is dangerous.  OR is it just a sore area or tendon? ONLY A DOCTOR CAN GIVE YOU A DIAGNOSIS. Please see one asap. A family doctor should be able to check it out and order any testing (Doppler ultrasound or xray or MRI?? They will decide after they examine you.
