It's likely GERD, especially if you wake up with a hoarse voice every morning. The way you described your throat as being scratchy and having difficulty swallowing are classic signs. If you can, limit your intake of tomatoes/ketchup and other acidic foods (lemons, spicy foods, etc.), and avoid alcohol at all costs.
The migraines probably aren't related to the GERD unless they're both being caused by a common factor--a particular food, stress, etc. You'll need to see a neurologist to have this diagnosed and they'll be able to prescribe a medication to reduce the severity and/or prevent migraines altogether. Typically, over-the-counter analgesics (like Tylenol) won't work on migraines.
I think you were right about Gerd! i was diagnosed with this before by my old doctor than when I got my endoscopy i was told it wasn't. but the symptoms match just about everything iam feeling.
thanks alot... i have had an endoscopy before and that's when I was told that was stomach was inflamed. Also Iam only 19 so could a lot of those really be a possibility at my young age. I will go to a specialist with this info as oon as possible thanks alot for the info.
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
The symptoms could be due to inflammatory bowel conditions such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, Celiac disease (gluten intolerance), lactose intolerance or IBS or irritable bowel syndrome. Severe acidity with gastric reflux can also be a cause and so also worms in stool. Hiatal hernia is another possibility. Liver and gall bladder issues too should be looked at by a liver function test and ultrasounds. Endoscopy, gluten sensitivity test, etc may also be required.
Stomach issues often act as a trigger for migraines.
Since a confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net please discuss these possibilities with your doctor once. It would be a good idea to consult a gastroenterologist. Hope this helps. Take care!
