Persistent low-grade fever, trouble sleeping

Hello, I'm new and I'm sorry if I'm not following proper protocol, but I have some problems I'm hoping can be explained.
I am a 20 year old female and I have POTS. I am familiar with the way that I feel normally, but for the past month I have felt completely off.
I have had a persistent low grade fever ranging from 99 to 99.8 and sometimes 100. I have recently been having trouble sleeping where I have previously had no problem before. I lie awake for hours, and when I do fall asleep, I have nightmares and either wake myself up or my fiance who wakes me up. When I wake up I have pain and tension in my shoulders and in the joints in my hips.
There has also been a change in my appetite, I am rarely, if ever hungry, but I force myself to eat because I need a large amount of protein because of the POTS. I also cant seem to put on any weight no matter what I eat. I am 5' 8" and weigh 120 pounds, although I have been a healthier weight of 130 for about a year.
I am used to feeling fatigued, again because of the POTS, but ever since I've been having this fever, I can't even seem to stand up long enough to take a shower, much less get chores done.
I don't know if these symptoms are related, and I'd appreciate it if someone could give me a little insight into what might be going on.
Also, I recently went to the doctor who told me I had TMJ and put me on some tramadol for pain and amoxicillan because he said my glands were swollen. So even through the antibiotic regimen I maintained the fever and other symptoms. Thank you for reading and thank you in advance for your help.

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Recurrent or chronic fever is seen in tuberculosis, SLE and other auto immune disorders, UTI, drug fever, glandular fever, HIV, endocarditis, parasitic infestations, fungal infections, lymphomas and other cancers etc. Fungal infections in the body too can present similarly and need to be identified by scratch tests for fungus. A variety of drugs can cause drug fevers.

It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind.  Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Hello Fiddly,

The cause for the low grade fever could be chronic infection, most commonly tuberculosis. Certain types of cancer also rarely present in this way. This can also cause fatigue, loss of weight and appetite. Please get yourself checked by your GP for this problem, at the earliest.

Please get back with your results. Take care
