Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Since the lump is becoming bigger and painful, get a doctor to examine it. This can be an abscess, swollen lymph node, cyst or it can also be a neurofibroma.
It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor. Take care!

Hi randy80.
Several common causes of lump behind ear include, ear infection, recurrent scalp infections,Sinus infection and viral infections can cause lump behind ear that hurts. While at times a person may only feel a hard lump behind ear with no pain and no change in its appearance.
If you are worried though see your doctor. Hope this helped . T/C. X

Last year I had this bump that started on the back of ear. At first it was really small but overtime it grew bigger and it just got more painful. I couldn't afford to go straight to the hospital so I waited.  Eventually it got so bad I had choice but to go. The doctor simply made a little incision, drained it of the fluid and packed it with gauze. I know it sounds painful and I can completely sympathize because I'm terrified of needles but it wasn't that bad. I was really just relieved to have the pain gone. Turns out that it was a kind of infection, a cyst and it was rare to have them on the back of your ear. My suggestion is go to the hospital, it's worth it
