Post Gallbladder Surgery

I just had my gallbladder taken out almost 2 weeks ago. I was doing pretty well afterwards except a lot of bruising and being sorre which is normal. However, a week after my surgery i woke up with blood coming out of my belly button from the incision. I went to the ER and the doctor said it was normal as long as it was watery blood not thick and sent me home that was on Monday. Today is Friday and I noticed Thursday night before I went to bed my belly button started bleeding really bad and it hasn't stopped even when I took a shower it bled so bad it was making the bath water reddish. I called the ER to see what they thought and they said they couldn't tell me anything I would have to come back in. I don't want to have to make another trip to the ER so what is wrong and what do I do? Please help!

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
I am sorry, but is would be in your best interests to go to the ER. Either a fistula or tract has developed from internal surgery site to your belly button, or there is  bleeding inside or there is a superficial infection, unrelated to the surgery inside.
The only way to know is get this examined. They may probe and look for a tract or inject a dye and take X-ray or they may refer you back to your surgeon.
Take care!
