No idea what's going on

Hi Everyone,

I'm writing to ask about a really strange thing that's been going on for years. It got better for awhile but now it's bothering me again. I mentioned it to my doctor a long time ago, but I think she thought I was crazy.

It sounds weird, but every time I drink fruit juice or eat any kind of citrus fruit/watermelon I develop horrible pain in the back of my neck. Lately, it's gotten so that the pain spreads down my entire back (only in the spinal chord area). Does anyone know of any reason for this?

If it helps, I've also been constantly bloated and I have occasional pain in my right shoulder. This may be an entirely unrelated issue, though.

I would really appreciate any feedback. Thank you in advance!

You may have acid reflux or GERD when you drink the fruit juice or anything acidic. For this you could try antacids like Tums or something like Prilosec, Pepcid AC, or Zantac and avoid consuming things that cause the pain. I've also found (before there was anything more than Tums) that drinking milk or water or eating bread would help reduce the acid. The bloating and pain in the shoulder could be from your gallbladder being blocked by gallstones (acid reflux also sometimes happens in people with gallbladder problems). Not to scare you, but bloating, back pain, and indigestion could be also be symptoms of ovarian cancer, so you should have them rule that out, too. Maybe you should find another doctor (I hate when they treat women like we are all a bunch of hypochondriacs). They ignored my complaints for 3 years until my gallbladder was collapsed and basically rotting (sorry to rant). Goodluck!
