I NEED HELP

I know that this belongs in the birth control forum, but nobody seems to read that, so here we go. I have been taking ortho cyclen continuously for almost 3 months. I'm on my 3rd pack and I have 7 days left (of the blue pills, I don't take the placebos utnil the third month, aka this one). I have been getting my period for over two weeks, and it's not just light. It's starting to worry me very, very, much (i tend to freak out about things like this), and I want to know what to do, soon. I called my clinic's operator, got put on hold for 15 minutes, and then they said they would "call me back". I know this isn't normal and I don't know if i should stop taking it or not, or what's causing it. PLEASE help.

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
If you have polycystic disease of the ovary then you must take the pills under medical supervision. Before discontinuing talk to your gynecologist and see what is the best option for you.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Thank you so much. I do not have any endocrine problems that I know of, I recently had a yeast infection which I subsequently treated and got rid of. About 3 years ago I had an ovarian cyst, but that's about it. Should I continue taking my birth control or discontinue use? Thank you again for your help.

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
This can be due to withdrawal bleeding due to improper medication. Otherwise the pills could not be suiting you and causing hormonal imbalance. Do you have other endocrine problems like thyroid or diabetes? Some medications taken with these pills affect the uptake of the pills and cause a lower serum level.
Uterine fibroids, polycystic ovary etc are the other possibilities. Please consult your gynecologist once.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
