Pharyngeal Gonorrhea or Stress?

Hello, I recently (Tuesday, July 24, 2012) had unprotected oral sex(male-male) with a partner who stated he was HIV/STD negative and gets tested regularly. That day, I ate and took a nap and woke up with was appeared to be a sore throat.   Being that I'd previously never had oral or any other sexual contact previously, I panicked (hypochondriac) and started assuming I had all of these illnesses until I cleared my mind, calmed myself and started looking for answers. I then started looking int gonorrhea and eliminated the possibility of anal or genital and with that information, I slept still stressed and panicking, in the night I worked out then ate once more before going to bed. At that point I was still stressed and had somewhat of a stuffy nose, along with the awkward feeling in my throat. I woke up in the morning and was fine with the exception of my throat which was itchy (not sore, no difficulty swallowing or swollen or anything), just itchy and dry, and began to panic further. It is now Saturday 4 days later, and each night, with the exception of Thursday night (the night I worked out before sleeping), this runny nose/sore throat issue persisted in the night only, but today (Saturday) continues throughout the day. My question is, could this potentially be Oral Gonorrhea or is this the cause of all my stress. The intention is to get tested asap, but it's the weekend. I'm just searching for answers at this point because if it's stress related, if right now is any indication,  I'm probably going to get worse based on that alone unless I know what I'm probably dealing with beforehand. Thanks in advance,

Steve.

You're welcome, and that's good. Hope it all goes well. We're all human so we do make mistakes sometimes.

Thank you both so much and I will! I spoke with the person I'd been with and he assured me that he's been tested recently and is certain he does not have gonorrhea, which eased the stress enormously, but I'll still be getting tested. This whole thing was definitely been an eye-opener. If I'm ever curious again (which I'm certain this experience has probably scared me away from), I'll be certain to protect myself in any predicament, at all times, as even if it's the first and only time, that's all it takes and I should have been using my head from the start and thinking this, but I was human for 4 minutes and lost sight of it. Thanks again, I really appreciate both of your responses.

You're welcome, and if after a week or so, you're still worried about stds, I would get it tested just in case. All the best.

Hi Steve yea its a tricky one ..... You could very well be stressing .....and causing yourself to become sick if you have a lower immunity...However...when the weekend has come and gone...go get tested for STD's just so you can put your mind at ease....With regards to HIV - that has a window period of 3 months.. Rather stay away from unprotected sex Steve, its not worth it in the end x Good Luck

Thank you for the response. I have yet to feel weak or drained(although I have been doing strenuous workouts everyday for the past 4-5 months for 1-3 hours a day). It's only been the dry/itchy throat and the stuffy nose during the night time. Yesterday, I began taking theraflu max-d(took it once before I went to bed) and using halls to either alleviate or diminish the systems should they be anything besides gonorrhea. With that said, if this were side effects of Pharyngeal Gonorrhea would halls or theraflu even be able to eliminate the dry/itchiness at all? Note: This is a hypothetical question and not an indication that I'm not seeking further help.  Once again, I thank you for your comment and I will do my best to avoid any forms of stress during these next couple of days.

The only way to really know about these kinds of things is to see a doctor, but it sounds like your worrying or stressing is making you feel/get sick, like run down. The more one stresses, the more likely their immune system will become weaker, so I would try not to stress as much, until you can go to the doctor, and get tested. Good luck.
